Let's Clean Up Nepal

A private NGO

We plan to carry down at least 1 kg of recyclable waste from the mountains to the cities to reduce adverse effects on local communities.

The problem

Every year, tons of waste left by travelers accumulate along mountain trekking routes. To help address this problem, we ask everyone to carry out everything they bring into the mountains.

To make this campaign effective, travelers can also volunteer to clean the trails.

Our main goal is to reverse the existing trend of polluting the mountains while contributing to building the bases of sustainable tourism.

We start with ourselves by avoiding single-use plastics and carrying bags to bring our waste back with us.

The record so far

On the treks, I used to see burning mountains, trash everywhere on the mountains, trekking trails where the travelers, guides, and trekking companies were not respecting nature.

We have already cleaned up different mountain trails 16 times and managed the waste, as well as done 44 different health and environmental education campaigns through Let's Clean Up Nepal.

We supported more than 100 porters during the pandemic lockdown. We are making a documentary, "Voice of the Porters", to raise awareness of porters. We are bringing out their painful and hidden stories.
